This is one of those real love stories that really catch our hearts! We ran into one of these photos by Cláudia, from I Heart You Photography, and we immediately tried to know everything about these two lovebirds who chose the first day of the year 2018 to come to Portugal and have their wedding proposal in Lisbon, near the Tejo river, under a bright early morning light, white and pure, just like January mornings greet us everytime the sky is clear.
So, this is what happened: Meryem and Jamil met in Hong Kong – and what began as a casual conversation turned into a neverending one! Her family lives in Morocco, so in December 2017 they traveled there for the holidays. To extend their trip, they looked for a nearby destination and chose Lisbon to spend New Year’s Eve. As soon as everything was booked, Jamil decided that Portugal was a perfect place to propose to Meryem, and that the first day of the year was the perfect date to do it. So he prepared his plan, contacted Claudia to have her register the moment and convinced Meryem that they had to be near Torre de Belém, in Lisbon, by sunrise or right after it, to engage in some kind of guided tour. The truth is, as every photographer will tell you, that this is one of the best times of the day for perfect outdoor pictures.
The light was perfect (but then, again, Lisbon always has perfect light, what makes it a dream wedding destination) and Jamil got on one knee, the ring on his hand, and Maryem got speechless at first but, by the time she managed to speak, the word was yes!
