This is a wedding video worth watching, but also worth listening. A film by Pixel, which is a delight and also a lesson on how to work with the sound to make the images come to life. So, pay attention to the moving narration, followed by a romantic ballad, and wrapped with the contagiously happy dance hit Mr. Brightside, by The Killers – a perfect match to the happy dancing going on at Teresa and Pedro’s wedding in Óbidos.
Well, let’s talk about Óbidos. What a gem! For years we knew it as that perfect example of a medieval fortress nested amidst medieval walls and crowned by a Moorish castle, where we would go to stroll along the stone streets and have a hot chocolate or a Ginjinha (a heavenly cherry liquor). It really looks like a doll house, with its small white buildings with wooden windows and bougainvilleas. There is always something happening there: opera concerts, chocolate fests, medieval fairs… and since 2005, it’s officially a Literary Town, with several bookshops (the biggest in the old Santiago church), artist residences and literary events all year round.
It’s beautiful, bucolic, historical, modern, cultural and cozy. What else do you need for your destination wedding?
