Photographer João Terra takes us on a nice stroll around one of the most typical corners of Porto: Ribeira, the neighborhood nested at Douro river’s bank, and São Luís bridge. The reason: Carlo and Diego’s engagement session: «I truly loved it! Carlo and Diego were such a great couple, with an affection and love between each other that even a layman in heart matters could see it», tells us João Terra.
There are a lot of impressive bridges across Douro river, but this one has a particular history that makes it dearer to the hearts of the local inhabitants. As far as memories go, children (but not only children) had fun diving into the river from this bridge. Our most acclaimed movie director, Manoel de Oliveira, shot his first movie around São Luís bridge and its diving kids – a beautiful film, in black and white, released in the year 1942 under the title Aniki Bóbó.
We do understand how the Italian couple fell for this scenario and chose to capture good memories spent there. Ribeira is full of soul and rings authenticity, in spite of its high touristic profile. If you want to experience some of the most genuine Porto soul, this is the place!
A few days later, Carlo and Diego had their destination wedding in a gorgeous luxury palace, also in Porto, exchanging vows and wedding rings surrounded by their friends and family. Happiness all around!
